Visiting

For friends and the curious, for those who want to rest a few days or to come work with us every day, we'll be glad to welcome you! In the summer, there's space for tents; in the winter, the handsome dormitory sleeps twelve and allows us to host those who'd like to come admire the snowy mountains.

For those who want to come shoot the breeze, chew the fat, we'd be pleased to receive friends or new faces to pass a few hours or more together. Do try to warn us in advance, so we can make the most of your time here.

For those who'd like to spend several days in nature, meet some folks, or share with us their talents, we organize a month of artistic, politically involved, self-ruled, ecological camping in the month of August. It's up to you define the character of the experience, so let us know as soon as possible when you'll be coming, what you might need, what you're looking for, and what your skills are!

For those who'd like to come spend the weekend in the mountains, with a good bed, a big breakfast, and a bite to eat at noon and in the evening, the gite is open all year for adventurers. It's an ideal base camp for hiking Mont Saccarel or the perfect place to stage a performance on your latest tour!

We'd also like to host organized stays (vacation camps, apprenticeships,.). The farm is already ready to welcome campers, and we plan to construct a covered outdoor kitchen and facilities, in order to easily conform to the legislation and ensure a good quality of life. The activities room and the dormitory also adapt to various groups and learning opportunities.

In brief, this place is open to people, ideas.the world!

Participacion

To cover the expense of hosting you and to permit us to improve over time, a small contribution will be asked of you, according to the nature of your stay:

Life on the farm: 7 €/day/pers. (lodging, food, participation on the farm)

Camping : see below

Week-end (for 5-15 people): 25€/pers for one night- 40€/pers. For two nights (all included)

Self-ruled camping for August 2007

To make available the farm and the magnificent location to all the people who have been hearing about this project for many months, we'd like to create a unique crossing of paths this summer. Space reserved for tents will therefore be placed on the farm's terraces. The objective is for this to be a moment of meeting open to individual and collective initiatives. We don't want to be organizers or officials, and it's for this reason that the venture won't be under the auspices of the FAR collective, but under those of an independent association: « La montagne en mouvement » or The Mountain Movement. All those coming to camp will become members and will have equal rights and decisive power as all the other members. Every person will be an actor in the association. The members of the collective will also be members and actors, but with the same rights as the other participants.

This place has vast potential. The mountain environment and the nearby Mercantour national park make this a dream location for dozens of activities: hikes, rock climbing, canyoning, nature walks, etc., etc. Even staying put, with the setting, the activities room, the raging river, the verdant terraces, there are thousands of possibilities: evening cabaret, movies, debate, theatre, dance, carpentry in the workshop. Everyone can realize their desires, spark their imagination and capitalize on their talents. We've already got some ideas in mind, but yours are surely more interesting. What's more, there will of course be life on the farm and all the chores, for those who'd like to lend a hand!

We eagerly anticipate your proposals for such and such activity this summer, since it would be ideal to begin as soon as possible to begin planning now. A word to the wise for all you jugglers, thespians, musicians, carpenters, climbers, walkers, botanists, etc: Come live the mountain life for the sunny month of August, with your studios, creations, concerts, constructions, and good humour!!

Getting organized!

To host this gathering, we need to install a heap of amenities, including solar showers, dry toilets, and an outdoor kitchen. We also need to work on the outdoor stage! We're going to give our time to get these things done (time that could have been directed toward our own enterprise) and we'll be receiving some helping hands from Rouen in July to finish installing everything. But all that has a cost, not enormous but consequential all the same, and to take care of these small investments, as well as the other costs of the organization, (tractor paths, cars, mail), we have thought up a way of participating, on which we have spent a lot of time reflecting. We're asking a contribution of 25 euros per person (10 euros for under 16s) to cover 4 nights of camping, and 3 euros (2 euros for under 16s) for each additional night.

Financing !

Since these investments must be made before your arrival and quite quickly, it would be best to have people make plans now to participate this summer, and those with the means can make their financial contribution immediately. We'd like to know as soon as possible when you'll be coming and how long you'll be staying, even if it's just an estimate. This way, we can avoid letting The Mountain Movement terminate lamentably after only its first year in existence.
